集团第1期【PEOPLE-团队文化融合工作坊】-- 拥抱多样性,促进包容性


On July 10, 2024, the first team culture integration workshop of Minth Group was successfully held at the PTI factory in East Tawas, USA. A total of 29 employees from China, the United States, Mexico, and India participated. The theme of the workshop was [PEOPLE], focusing on practices in a cross-cultural work environment. It aimed to explore diversity and commonalities among people while enhancing cross-cultural intelligence to improve "cross-cultural communication" and "cross-cultural collaboration" skills, thereby building a more diverse, equal, and inclusive global agile organization.


2024年7月10日,敏实集团第一期团队文化融合工作坊在美国东塔瓦斯PTI工厂顺利举行,共有29名来自中国、美国、墨西哥、印度等国籍的员工参加。本次工作坊的主题为【PEOPLE】,基于跨文化工作环境中的实践,旨在探索人的多样性和共性,同时提高跨文化智力以提升“跨文化沟通”和“跨文化协作”的能力,以构建更多元、平等、包容的全球化敏捷组织。

John Zanti, Senior Plant Manager of PTI, opened the session by sharing, "There is a great need for us to have cultural training, as we need to be more diverse and inclusive in our perceptions and thoughts in a workplace where there are employees of so many nationalities working together. The different nationalities and backgrounds that make up PTI, working together for the betterment of the world. So we get together to learn and exchange cultures is part of that integration."


PTI 工厂高级经理 John Zanti 在开场环节分享道:“我们很有必要去开展关于文化类的培训,在拥有如此多国籍员工的工作环境下,我们的认知和思想需要更加多元且包容。不同国籍、不同背景的员工组成了敏实PTI,大家共同促进美好世界的进步,我们聚在一起学习与交流文化就是融合的一部分。”



In this workshop, everyone actively shared their insights, habits, and experiences from their respective cultural backgrounds, which sparked lively exchanges and deep reflections among colleagues. Some shared how different gestures and tones represent completely different meanings and content in different cultural contexts; others discussed unique team collaboration methods specific to their country's culture; and some highlighted the cultural communication challenges caused by language barriers in their daily work...


在此次工作坊中,大家积极分享了各自文化背景下的见解、习惯和经验,也引发了同事们活跃地交流和深入地思考。有人分享了不同的手势和语气在不同文化背景下,代表截然不同的内容和含义;有人分享了他们国家文化下特有的团队协作方式;还有人分享了日常工作中因为语言障碍所造成的文化沟通挑战……

#1 Misunderstanding of Gesture

     手势的误解



AJ, an American colleague from the EHS department, shared an intriguing experience. He mentioned that once, he encountered a Mexican employee who didn't speak English wearing headphones while working. To AJ, this behavior violated safety regulations, so he wanted to stop it. However, due to the language barrier, AJ didn't know how to express this in the appropriate language. In this dilemma, AJ made a gesture that he described as a "throat-slitting" motion (in his cultural background, this gesture usually signifies that something is very dangerous and needs to stop). However, this gesture was misunderstood, as the employee interpreted it as AJ implying a threat to kill him. Fortunately, other employees present understood AJ's intention and explained it to the Mexican employee, resolving the misunderstanding caused by the language barrier. This experience led AJ to deeply reflect on how to effectively handle similar situations, emphasizing the importance of respecting and understanding others' cultural backgrounds in a cross-cultural work environment.

#2 Cultural Differences

     文化差异



Luisa, a Mexican colleague from the Quality department, shared her perspective on cultural differences. She observed that Chinese employees place a greater emphasis on collective interests, teamwork, and a sense of collective responsibility. In contrast, American employees focus more on transparent and open communication. Meanwhile, Mexicans highly value family and teamwork, leading them to prioritize team collaboration and mutual encouragement and support in their work.


来自质量部门的墨西哥籍同事Luisa讲述了以她的视角下中国员工更加注重集体利益、集体协作和集体责任感,美国员工沟通更加注重透明化沟通和开放性沟通,而墨西哥员工更加注重家庭价值观和团队合作,因此他们在工作中更加注重团队合作和互相鼓励支持。

At the end of the workshop, the participants expressed that they had gained a lot from the experience. The employees who attended not only learned to respect, understand, and appreciate cultural differences but also discovered new methods to enhance effective communication and interaction within the team, such as showing respect and actively listening.


工作坊结束时,学员们纷纷表示收获颇丰,参与本次工作坊的员工们不仅理解了尊重、理解和欣赏不同文化的差异,还发现了提升团队间有效交流和沟通的新方法,比如尊重、倾听……

#1 The Importance of Information Conveying

     信息传递的重要性



In this workshop, everyone actively shared their insights, habits, and experiences from their respective cultural backgrounds, which sparked lively exchanges and deep reflections among colleagues. Some shared how different gestures and tones represent completely different meanings and content in different cultural contexts; others discussed unique team collaboration methods specific to their country's culture; and some highlighteHan Qiwen, a Chinese colleague and planner from the Materials department, shared her insights: "The workshop helped us understand the importance of inclusion and understanding in a cross-cultural context. 来自物料部门计划员,中国籍同事韩其文分享了自己的心得体会:“工作坊让我们理解了在跨文化情景下包容和理解的重要性,也帮助我看到如何在工作中更好地传递信息和接受信息,从而帮助我在未来工作中减少资源浪费和时间管理上的摩擦。”

#2 To Value the Differences

     欣赏差异



Tania, a Mexican colleague from the Procurement department, said: "This workshop helped me understand and appreciate the rich diversity each person embodies. It's important to respect and value differences in age, gender, race, religion, disability, sexual orientation, education, and nationality. Actively valuing diversity within the company means going beyond mere 'tolerance' to ensure people genuinely understand and appreciate these differences."


采购部门的墨西哥同事Tania:“这次工作坊帮助我理解并赞美每个人身上蕴含的丰富多样性,要尊重和欣赏人们在年龄、性别、种族、宗教、残疾、性取向、教育和国籍方面的差异,同时要积极重视公司内部的多样性,这意味着不要局限于“容忍”来相互理解,而是要确保人们真正理解和重视差异。”








The workshop allowed everyone to personally experience the differences brought about by cross-cultural contexts. Through specific cross-cultural collaboration case studies, participants felt the creativity and innovation benefits that diversity brings to the team. This further promoted the integration of cross-team culture at PTI.


这次工作坊让大家切身感受到了在跨文化情境中带来的差异,同时也通过大家的具体跨文化协作实践案例让彼此感受到团队多元所带来创造力和创新益处,进一步促进了PTI跨团队文化的融合。
